Frank Hamilton asked:

For those who don’t know too much about hemorrhoids, here is some stuff you should know. Hemorrhoids affect nearly 89% of the population. Many people have hemorrhoids and never even know that they have them. For those who do discover that they have hemorrhoids, they usually discover them in one of several ways.

Seeing bright red blood on the toilet paper, on stool or in the toilet bowl is one indication that someone has hemorrhoids. Another indication is feeling a lump or an external hemorrhoid right outside the anal opening. Pain, itching, and burning in the lower rectum and anus are also symptoms and signs that hemorrhoids are present.

There are two main types of hemorrhoids – internal and external. Both can cause bleeding and discomfort. However, external hemorrhoids are the ones that usually cause the most pain, itching and discomfort.

Hemorrhoid symptoms can range from mild, moderate to severe. In mild cases, as mentioned earlier, some may never know they have them. In extreme cases, hemorrhoid pain can not be ignored. Those who suffer from severe cases of hemorrhoids may experience extreme pain and unbearable itching and burning which many times can cause people to not be able to do their day to day activities.

There are various treatments for helping relieve hemorrhoid symptoms. Many are over the counter such as creams, ointments and suppositories. There are also all natural oral medications that have proven to be quite helpful. These all natural ingredients have actually shown to help with even the most severe cases of hemorrhoids. These medications also come in ointments which contain healing aloe which helps to soothe the irritated area.

If you notice any of the symptoms of hemorrhoids and think you may have them, start a treatment right away to relieve the symptoms and keep them from worsening. Also try to increase you water intake as well as adding foods that are high in fiber to your diet. This will help to promote healthier digestion and bowel movements which will help to prevent hemorrhoids for worsening or developing.

Claudio Lee asked:

You might be afraid that cycling causes hemorrhoids, or if you are an avid cyclist, you could be unsure if it will aggravate your hemorrhoid condition. But will you really get hemorrhoids from cycling? Well, read on to see if cycling is the cause of hemorrhoids.

There are various causes to hemorrhoids but cycling, is definitely not one of them. Some of the common reasons would include constipation, sitting down for very long periods, lack of exercise and a poor diet that is deficient in fiber. If your normal lifestyle has none of the above and your daily bowel movement is smooth, then hemorrhoid would be very much less likely to form, even if your lifestyle includes regular cycling.

However, if you currently have hemorrhoids, then cycling might be a contributing factor in aggravating the condition. This is because blood flow to the butt area is very restricted when you are sitting on a bike saddle. Long periods of cycling may also worsen the hemorrhoid, as there is friction between the saddle and the hemorrhoid.

To prevent hemorrhoids from happening to you while cycling, check your bike saddle. Make sure that it is comfortable and is fitting on your butt area because long periods on uncomfortable saddles might aggravate any possible hemorrhoids, even if they are small. Not only that, it might cause discomfort and pain! You should also have a balanced diet consisting of lots of fiber and water to ensure smooth bowel motion, to reduce the occurrence of hemorrhoids.

Continue to cycle and be worry free that cycling is not a sole factor in causing hemorrhoid. In fact, cycling is good exercise as it tones your muscles and to a certain extent, improves blood circulation to the butt area. This is an excellent method in combination with others to prevent hemorrhoids!

Brad Grayson asked:

When a person talks about hemorrhoids most people can relate to the pain and general feeling of uncomfortably that comes from this all too common condition. It is a condition that most people have to deal with at one time or another. Some individuals have this condition and it can become rather serious, even requiring surgery. However, if you have a reoccurring hemorrhoid problem, you will need to understand certain descriptions of your condition so that you do not misinterpret or cause yourself any undo fear, worry or panic. One term that you may here regarding your condition is what is know as a ruptured hemorrhoid

A hemorrhoid is a varicose anal or a perianal vein that has become inflamed and enlarged. These enlargements will often times cause pain and itching, however, in some cases the vein will become so enlarged that it will actually break through the skin. This condition is known as a ruptured hemorrhoid. These hemorrhoids can be some of the more painful hemorrhoids and with the breaking of the skin there can be a certain sense of alarm.

While a ruptured hemorrhoid may seem more serious than your standard run of the mill hemorrhoid the truth is that there is not much difference. The only thing a person has to watch out for is the slight possibly of minor infection when the skin is broken. In most cases these hemorrhoids will go away as quickly as they came on. If the hemorrhoid persists, once the abrasion has healed, traditional treatment of the hemorrhoid itself will often do the trick. If, however, the hemorrhoid continues unaffected by the treatment, it may be time to see a doctor concerning the hemorrhoid.

Hemorrhoids can be a difficult thing to deal with. For most people, they are a mild inconvenience at most, and for some the problem can be more chronic or serious. Whatever the case may be when you are dealing with something like a ruptured hemorrhoid you might worry that what you are experiencing is worse than what it is. With a little information, you can avoid any unneeded and unnecessary worry when something like this occurs.
